The Canadiens announced Thursday morning that goaltender Cayden Primeau has signed a one-way, three-year contract with the team.

The agreement, which has an average annual value of $890,000, will bring in $770,000 in 2022-2023, $800,000 in 2023-2024 and $1,100,000 in 2024-2025.
Primeau went 1-7-1 in 12 games with the Canadiens last season, posting a 4.62 goals-against-average and .868 save percentage. In 18 total NHL games, the 23-year-old goaltender is 3-10-2.
With the Laval Rocket, Primeau had 16 wins and 12 losses and three overtime losses in 33 games last season. He won nine of 14 playoff games to help the Rocket reach the American League East final.
