In the end, Saturday night’s game in Toronto was Jake Allen’s last this season.

The Canadian confirmed Tuesday morning that the goalkeeper will not play again this season. It’s a groin injury, suffered during this game against the Toronto Maple Leafs, which will force him into a spectator role for the rest of this campaign.
“I chatted quickly like that with him, replied coach Martin St-Louis after training Tuesday morning in Brossard. It’s a shame he’s injured and his season is over. He’s kept us in the game a lot this season, and he’s allowed us to win games too. I had the chance to see what he can do, and he was impressive. »
Jake Allen wasn’t the only one in the bad news department on Tuesday morning. Another player, Justin Barron, will also have to sit out the rest of the season. In the case of the defender, it was an ankle injury that forced him to take this very involuntary break. Allen and Barron, however, should be in fine form for training camp in September.
As for striker Emil Heineman, he is sidelined due to injury, and no return date is known for him. Heineman, acquired from the Calgary Flames as part of the exchange of Tyler Toffoli, has still not played a game with the Canadiens.
Note that Nick Suzuki and Paul Byron did not take part in Tuesday’s practice, and that Josh Anderson had to leave the ice before everyone else. The three players will travel to Columbus – the Canadian will face the Blue Jackets there on Wednesday night – but Martin St-Louis could not confirm their presence for this meeting.
What we do know, however, is that Carey Price will be on the trip, but won’t play Wednesday night. The famous goalkeeper is (still) continuing his fitness program.
