Unsurprisingly, the Canadian added the name of Paul Byron to his list of long-term injuries on Tuesday morning.

The 33-year-old striker, who is still suffering the aftermath of hip surgery he underwent in July 2021, has not attended the club’s training camp. He missed the majority of the 2021-2022 season and, after playing 27 games, he had to forfeit the final matches of the campaign.

Byron is currently in the final year of his contract. It’s unclear if he will be able to play this season.

Otherwise, the CH announced the recall of Arber Xhekaj from the Laval Rocket. It is actually an administrative formality, since the defender has never left the entourage of the team. The organization had to submit a salary-cap-compliant roster to the NHL late Monday, so it traded Xhekaj to the American League to deduct his salary from the team’s budget. Once that was done, adding Byron to the long-term injured list freed up the space needed to recall Xhekaj.
