The Canadian | Mike Hoffman on COVID-19 protocol

A third Canadiens player was added to the NHL’s COVID-19 surveillance protocol on Monday. Mike Hoffman joined Artturi Lehkonen and Laurent Dauphin there.

Being on this list does not necessarily mean that a player has contracted the virus. Rather, it is considered to be under observation, after a positive test, awaiting confirmation of an infection or not.

Hoffman, 32, is playing his first season with the Canadian. He has so far collected eight points, including four goals, in 19 games. If he did indeed have COVID-19, he should then stay away from the team for ten days. If so, he would miss his team’s last two games in 2021, in Tampa and Raleigh, on December 28 and 30.

In addition, Cédric Paquette had been placed in administrative segregation on Sunday morning, but his name was not added to the protocol of the NHL. We therefore presume that he gets away with a false alarm.
