(Brossard) Mike Matheson’s status has changed dramatically over the past few days. The one whose coach said he was “healthy” just a week ago saw his name added to the injured list on Thursday morning.

To make up for his absence, the Habs recalled Corey Schueneman from the Laval Rocket. The team will therefore rely on seven defenders for its two-game, two-day trip to Detroit and Washington.

Matheson played his last game on Monday, October 3, having been sidelined for his club’s last three pre-season games. On October 6, after a loss against the Ottawa Senators, head coach Martin St-Louis assured that his defender was “healthy”. He hasn’t trained with the rest of the roster since.

On Wednesday, October 12, a few hours before the first official game of the season, general manager Kent Hughes indicated that the Montrealer, injured in the “lower body”, had to submit to a magnetic resonance test. It was then assumed that more would be known about his condition within the next 48 hours.

It is not known, at this point, if the results of this test have been returned to the team.
