Harris had been approached by the American training for the recent Olympic Games in Beijing, but had not been retained. He will have his chance this time to stand out again on the international scene, he who took part in the World Juniors in 2020.
After concluding his college career at Northeastern, he joined the Canadiens in the spring. He played 10 games in Montreal, scoring one goal.
On the national team, he will rub shoulders with another Canadian hopeful. Sean Farrell, striker who aligns with Harvard University, but whose rights belong to CH, also accepted the invitation made to him. He has also represented his country in Beijing.
Former Habs Alex Galchenyuk and Riley Barber will also be there, as will Quebecer Thomas Bordeleau, who has American citizenship.
Goalkeeper Alex Nedeljkovic, defenders Seth Jones and Nate Schmidt, and forwards Adam Gaudette and Austin Watson are among the best-known names in the 24-man roster unveiled Thursday morning.
