The Montreal Canadiens are guaranteed to finish the season in 32nd and last place in the National Hockey League following the victory of the Arizona Coyotes yesterday, a first since 1940. That year, Quebec finally granted the right to vote for women, France is invaded by the German army, one year after the start of the Second World War, and conscription is declared in Canada. Since governments had to call on women to work in factories, six daycare centers were opened in Montreal. At the same time, the Unemployment Insurance Act is passed in Ottawa.
