The Canadian | David Savard injured, Gustav Lindström recalled

The Canadian won Monday night in Buffalo, but this victory came with a heavy price to pay.

David Savard, who provided a notable presence during the third period, will be sidelined for an indefinite period.

The veteran defenseman was injured during a shorthanded sequence, when he blocked two shots from Sabers forward Tage Thompson in quick succession. Among other things, he was hit in the left hand on the play, and it was with difficulty that he managed to finally leave the ice at the end of this series of games, to say the least chaotic, during which he also lost a skate blade.

To compensate for this loss in view of Tuesday evening’s match at the Bell Center against the New Jersey Devils, the Canadian announced Tuesday morning the recall of another defender, Gustav Lindström, from the Laval Rocket.

Lindström was obtained this summer from the Detroit Red Wings as part of the Jeff Petry transaction. The 25-year-old defenseman was a second-round pick by the Wings in the 2017 draft, and he has yet to play a game with the Canadiens. He didn’t get any points in four games with the Rocket.
