Cole Caufield’s purgatory did not last very long. The Canadian recalled Thursday at noon.
Alex Belzile was sent back to Laval to make room for him. The timing of the news is astounding, to say the least. Belzile took part in Thursday’s optional practice with CH, ahead of the night’s game against the Penguins.
However, unless you go there with a formation of 11 attackers and 7 defenders, Dominique Ducharme will have to employ Caufield on Thursday night.
The little right winger ended up playing six games with the Rocket. He scored two goals and three assists, but showed a -6 rating. On Wednesday, he scored the tying goal in the third period, concluding a spectacular comeback for the Rocket, who lost 5-1 to the Marlies in Toronto.
Caufield then scored in a shootout and the Laval team won 6-5. Caufield had only one assist in 10 games with CH, before being sold to Laval.
