The center player has already missed his team’s last three games. He was injured on December 7 in a game against the Tampa Bay Lightning. It was a check by defenseman Cal Foote at the start of the second period that seemed to bother him.

His name adds to an already expanded list of long-term injuries. Tyler Toffoli will have to wait about eight weeks before returning to the game. Josh Anderson, injured on December 2, is continuing an estimated recovery of two to four weeks. And no return date has yet been set in Joel Edmundson’s case.

Still on the subject of the infirmary, but this time from a more cheerful perspective, Jake Evans took part in his team’s full training on Wednesday morning, which portends an imminent return to training.

The team further announced that the names of Brendan Gallagher and Sami Niku have been removed from the NHL’s COVID-19 protocol. After missing the last six games, they are now undergoing “progressive fitness” before hitting the ice again.
