According to Kent Hughes, Montreal general manager, the veteran defender is already attracting interest on the deal market, and it should come as no surprise to see him leave in the near future.
“I could not have said on Saturday that Tyler (Toffoli) was going to be traded on Monday, replied the DG during a press briefing on Wednesday morning. We’ve had discussions with teams about Ben, and clubs are identifying players whose contracts expire at the end of the season…we’ve had several calls about him. If we get a proposal that works for us, we’ll do it, whether it’s now or March 20. »
The GM also reiterated that Jeff Petry is one of the players who could leave.
As for Carey Price, who remains unable to train on the ice, Hughes remains hopeful of seeing him back in net for the club by the end of the season.
