The Canadian can’t wait to see Patrick Roy again

(Boston) The news of Patrick Roy’s return to the NHL quickly reached the Canadian’s locker room in Boston at the end of the day on Saturday.

Mike Matheson learned of Roy’s return to the Islanders when he arrived at the arena.

“I saw that when I got here, and he sure had a lot of success when he was coaching at Colorado,” he noted. We’ll see what happens for him now with the Islanders. We only hope that he won’t have too much success against us! »

On this subject, the Canadiens players were already well aware of Roy’s first visit to the Bell Center as part of his new duties, Thursday evening, during the Islanders’ next visit.

“Of course it’s always special to see a legend like that return to the NHL,” explained David Savard. He’s going to take the team to another stage, because he’s a competitor, so it’s going to be special to see him behind the Islanders bench Thursday night at the Bell Centre. »

Samuel Montembeault is already looking forward to this visit from the new coach of the Islanders at the Bell Centre.

“I wore number 33 for a long time when I was young,” explained the Canadian goalkeeper. The last Stanley Cup in Montreal was with him… So it’s fun to see that he’s back, and it’s going to be a great moment too. We play against them on Thursday, it will be one of his first games with the Islanders, and it will take place at the Bell Centre. I’m sure it’s going to be special. »
