After the 27 players cut on Saturday, two other names were added to the list of victims of the ax at the Canadian camp.
Forwards Lucas Condotta and Brandon Gignac were indeed placed on waivers on Sunday. The other 31 NHL teams have until Monday, 2 p.m., to claim them. If they are not claimed, the Habs may transfer them to the Laval Rocket.
Both forwards were shut out in preseason games this fall.
Once they are cut, the Canadian will have 16 forwards, 10 defensemen and 3 goalies in camp. We include the injured Patrik Laine, Kaiden Guhle and David Reinbacher among them. Guhle, however, has resumed on-ice training in recent days.
Condotta and Gignac each had a whirlwind stint with the Canadian last year. Condotta played three matches with the big club, compared to seven for Gignac. They spent the rest of the season with the Rocket.
The Habs’ farm club camp will begin Tuesday in Laval.
