This is the figure of the day: already 8.6 million tickets sold for the Paris Olympic Games and more than 1 million for the Paralympics. This is a record. With 15 days to go until the start of the Olympic Games, the first athletes are starting to arrive.
After an eight-hour flight, one of the very first foreign delegations arrived on French soil on Friday, July 12. Canadian basketball players are proud and eager to be at the Games. “It’s not easy to get here so I’m really proud”confides the player Luguentz Dort. After two years of work, Paris-Orly is ready to welcome the whole world.
Two hours earlier, at the operations center, the flight checks and the first briefing took place. 400 volunteers were recruited, four times more than in other summers. The athletes take a small souvenir photo before visiting Paris and going to Blois (Loir-et-Cher). The city’s basketball club has organized everything for the next four days of the selection, from accommodation to setting up a training room with a shooting machine. No detail is forgotten: ice bath for recovery, local products and autographs. In short, the first gold medal for hospitality.
