The Canadiens announced Thursday that they have signed Ontario forward Lucas Condotta for one season.

The two-way deal, which will net him $750,000 if he plays in the NHL and $80,000 if he plays in the American League, won’t be in effect until 2022-23.
In his fourth and final season with UMass-Lowell University in the NCAA, the heavyweight skater (6’2″, 209 lbs.) has amassed 23 points in 33 games this season. As his season at UMass is over, Condotta, 24, will immediately join the Laval Rocket on a pro tryout.
The links between the Boston region and the management of the Canadiens are undeniable. The UMass-Lowell River Hawks play in the same division as the Northeastern Huskies, the team for which the two sons of Canadian general manager Kent Hughes play.
Adam Nicholas, recently hired by the Habs as director of hockey development, meanwhile worked at UMass from 2013 to 2018; He and Condotta did not meet there, however.
