Forward Kirby Dach suffered a “significant injury” and will be out long-term, the Canadian announced Monday morning.
Dach left Saturday’s game in the first half with a lower body injury. The forward had just been the victim of a hit by Jarred Tinordi, who knocked him over the boards, onto the Blackhawks bench. Dach attempted to skate during a commercial break, but then retreated to the locker room.
A Canadiens spokesperson did not offer further details regarding the nature of the injury on Monday, but confirmed that it was a significant injury and that Dach will be out for a good while.
Dach had two assists in the first game of the season, Wednesday in Toronto.
The Habs will play their next game Tuesday evening against the Minnesota Wild at the Bell Center.
