For some children, the path to school can feel like an obstacle course. A mother in Aude threatens to sue if her daughter does not receive the support to which she is entitled.

In Saint-André-de-Roquelongue (Aude), two mothers of students with disabilities are still waiting for their children to benefit from the school assistance to which they are entitled. “They don’t empower our children. They do not give their chance to succeed at the school level”, explains Allisone Cougnoux, mother of one of them. For the time being, none of them knows when this aid will arrive and Alissone has sent a formal notice to the academic service of Aude.

His request soon satisfied?

The daughter of the latter, educated in CE1, suffers from significant language disorders. The National Education services specify that Alissone’s request should be satisfied on May 12. In the department, a hundred assistants for children with disabilities have already been hired. “It’s complicated to find because it is precisely necessary to tighten up on schools and it is clear that in Aude (…) as soon as we are going to be in isolated municipalities, we have to find the staff”, explains Sylvaine Mailho, assistant to the Dasen of Aude. There would be in the department more than 700 requests for specialized assistance.
