Still no rain in Côte-d’Or, and the historic drought is turning into a hassle for breeders forced to find water for their animals. When the springs and wells are dry, they have to draw from the rivers to bring water to the cattle in the meadows. This is the case for Frédéric Ligiot who raises a sixty cows near Brazey-en-Plaine. The two wells of his largest meadow are dry. This forces him to come regularly to bring water to his livestock. But the problem is that it does not have a water tank. This situation forced him to make multiple trips. He therefore calls for help on the social network Facebook.
“I am equipped with one thousand liter bins divided into fifteen pallets. I put four of them on a trailer and I go like this. I appeal to find a tonne with a minimum capacity of five to eight thousand liters to reduce the number of trips, and allow me to make these supplies only once every three days instead of daily comings and goings at this time.” explains Frédéric Ligiot.
But the breeder’s finances are not extraordinary, he wants us to be able to lend him this equipment waiting for better days to buy some. He will first have to set up a file to obtain possible help. But for the moment, the urgency is that his livestock can drink. Frédéric Ligiot has already received a few proposals, but these come from too far away.
