“Stupid”, “tocard”, “you’re a shit” : the insults of the host Cyril Hanouna addressed on C8 to the deputy LFI Louis Boyard in November 2022 on the set of the program “Touche pas à mon poste” earned the channel a sanction of 3.5 million euros, announced Arcom on Thursday 9 February. The media regulator “has in fact considered that these remarks have infringed the rights of the guest, the respect of his honor and his reputation” and “this sequence reflected a lack of knowledge by the publisher of its obligation to control its antenna”can we read in a press release.
The chain is also put on notice “to comply in the future with the stipulations [de la convention de l’Arcom] relating to the honesty and independence of the information and the programs that contribute to it”. The regulator writes that Louis Boyard was “explicitly prevented from expressing a critical point of view with regard to a shareholder of the Canal + Group, to which the C8 television service belongs and that, consequently, the program had not been produced under conditions which guarantee the independence of information”.
