It’s a moment worthy of the event. The kick-off of the France-Canada friendly match, scheduled for 9:15 p.m. on Sunday June 9 at Matmut Atlantique in Bordeaux, was not broadcast live by TF1 due to the surprise announcement by Emmanuel Macron, who decided to dissolve the National Assembly following the overwhelming victory of the National Rally in the European elections. The channel, which was in a special edition, favored a debate and duplexes rather than the start of the match.

TF1, which broadcast the start of the match only on its TF1+ platform, went on air at 9:30 p.m. and decided to broadcast the match on a delayed basis. Commentator Grégoire Margotton announced it at the start of the match, justifying this “slightly delayed” by political news. The kick-off of the last match of the Blues before the Euro had already been postponed to 9:15 p.m. due to the European elections.
