The Brigitte Bardot Foundation announced on Twitter on Tuesday February 8 that it will file a complaint against footballer Kurt Zouma, while a video published by the British newspaper The Sun shows him hitting his cat, reports France Bleu Saint-Etienne Loire. The footballer is a former Saint-Étienne between 2011 and 2014 and plays as a defender of West Ham.

The Foundation requests the suspension of the footballer from the French football team, in which he also plays. In the video, Kurt Zouma throws one of his cats to the ground and kicks him. He then looks for the animal, visibly very upset. A few seconds later in the video, Kurt Zouma punches a cat again, which one of his children has just put on the counter.

For its part, adds France Bleu, the West Ham club claims to handle the case internally, adding that it does not tolerate any case of animal abuse. Kurt Zouma faces up to five years in prison, British legislation having been toughened with regard to acts of animal abuse, specifies France Bleu.
