That will sting. The 6th stage of the Tour of Spain 2022 offers a route of 181.2 km between Bilbao and the summit of the Pico Jano in San Miguel de Aguayo, Thursday August 25. This is the first of seven mountain stages in this Vuelta.
After 70 km, the runners will first face the Puerto de Alisas, a second category pass (8.7 km at 5.8%). Then they will have to hang on in the last 40 kilometers to successively cross two first category passes: first the Collada de Brenes (6.8 km at 8.2%), before ending with the rise of pico Jano (12.6 km at 6.5%), at the top of which is the finish.
With this first arrival at the top, the favorites should find a ground of explanation there: Primoz Roglic (Jumbo-Visma), Remco Evenepoel (Quick-Step-AlaphaVinyl) or the Frenchman Pavel Sivakov (Ineos-Grenadiers) could be tempted to gauge in order to get closer to the new red jersey, Rudy Molard (Groupama-FDJ). The unprecedented arrival at the top of the Pico Jano could widen the gaps, with a long climb and inclinations of up to 12% at the start of the pass.
