(Atlanta) The Atlanta Braves made sure they were counting on the services of their manager, Brian Snitker, for at least three more seasons after he guided the team to their first World Series victory since 1995.
The team announced on Tuesday that they had exercised the option inscribed in Snitker’s contract for the 2024 season, an expected move. The popular manager still had two seasons on his contract.
40 years with the Braves
The 66-year-old Snitker has spent much of his life with the Braves, who have been with the organization for over 40 years. After holding various roles, he was finally appointed manager in the Majors in 2016, following the dismissal of Fredi Gonzalez.
Under his watch, the Braves won four straight titles in the National East, capping the final season with a surprise World Series conquest, after an 88-73 record. Those 88 wins were the lowest total of any team in the playoffs.
The Braves surprised the Milwaukee Brewers in the divisional playoffs, before showing off the Los Angeles Dodgers and their 106 championship streak victories. They then defeated the Houston Astros in six games to be crowned 2021 champions.
In six seasons as manager, Snitker is 441-390.
