Hundreds of thousands of clothes from the Camaïeu brand are sold at auction on Wednesday, November 2.

In a warehouse in Roubaix (Nord), nearly two million items of clothing accumulate from floor to ceiling. It is all the stock of Camaïeu which is about to be sold at auction, Wednesday, November 2, after the placement of the sign in compulsory liquidation a month ago. Pieces at 159 or 179 euros will thus be estimated at 20 euros, according to Bruno Decock, auctioneer for Maison Mercier.

This gigantic sale is made up of 20 lots, estimated in all at nearly 50 million euros. Number 9, the brand’s latest collection, is the most requested. Above all, everything must go. The sale is intended for professionals, who, to participate, had to pay a deposit of 50,000 euros. Among the interested buyers, there are many destocking brands looking for a good deal. But for Thierry Siwik, CGT Camaïeu delegate, this sale is heartbreaking after a particularly brutal liquidation. “There are people who worked on this collection. What’s a shame is that we’re going to find these clothes on markets or in discount stores, it’s a bit sad”deplores the union representative.
