Disappearance of little Émile: the boy’s bones were found near the hamlet of Haut-Vernet
The bones of little Émile were found near the hamlet of Haut-Vernet (Alpes-de-Haute-Provence) on Saturday March 30. According to the public prosecutor of Aix-en-Provence, it was the genetic analyzes carried out immediately which allowed the identification of the little boy.

Undoubtedly the end of a mystery after months of questioning. On Saturday March 30, a walker discovered bones near Haut-Vernet (Alpes-de-Haute-Provence), a hamlet where little Émile disappeared in July 2023. This area has, however, been combed numerous times by investigators . An emergency DNA examination carried out in a gendarmerie laboratory led to the conclusion that it is indeed the child’s body.
A scenario carried out this week
Thursday, a scenario was carried out to try to clarify the comments of 17 key witnesses, members of Émile’s family or residents. In particular two neighbors who say they saw the child on the only sloping street in the village. Forensic doctors will try to determine the causes of the little boy’s death.
