Many heat records have already been broken in the south of France on Tuesday, from the Pyrenees to the Alps via Corsica. These temperatures are caused by a heat dome. “It’s like a bell under which the temperatures rise day after day and day and there is little exchange with the general circulation around. This results in strong sunshine and high pressure”explained to franceinfo Jean-Noël Thépautdirector of Copernicus, the European program devoted to Earth observation.
