the boss of the Republicans of the Loire “very confident” after the rout in the presidential election

The legislative battle is well underway. The Republicans are getting in working order with a strategic committee on Tuesday. The party is tormented after the very low score of Valérie Pécresse in the first round of the presidential election (4.8%), with different lines, between moderate right close to Emmanuel Macron and harder right which is found in proposals by Eric Zemmour or Marine Le Pen.

“The line problem, we will simply see it in the legislative elections, according to Jean-Pierre Taite, president of the Loire Federation of Republicans. I am convinced that many people voted by obligation and not by choice. Voters are smart, their beliefs don’t disappear overnight, and they’re not like sheep to do exactly what they’re asked to do. So, I am very confident.

When you keep your convictions, when you rely on values, you find your voters for a while and that’s what I think will happen in the legislative elections. I think our country never left all the power to one man, which is the case today. And I am convinced that in the legislative elections, there will be a correction.

No rallying to La République en Marche

Several Republican personalities, however, call to lend a hand to the Republic on the march to work together: the president of the Grand Est region Jean Rottner, the mayor of La Baule Franck Louvrier and of course, the mayor of Saint-Étienne, Gaël Perdriau, very critical of Valérie Pécresse and of the identity drift according to him party. He says he is in favor of a government pact with Emmanuel Macron.

“Since politics is politics, you have people who change stables depending on the circumstances. It’s their choice. I think voters have common sense, they know how to recognize people who have consistency, who carry their values. And I have no judgment on those who want to go to different teams.” declares the candidate on the 6th constituency of the Loire, that of Forez.
