This is a typically Quebecois insult. “Bécosse” is a derivative of the English word “ backhouse », which designates an outdoor dry toilet. “ Boss ”, it’s an English word that means “boss”. Basically, this expression means… head of the toilet. Not exactly a compliment!
“Déguedine”
Definition: To hurry, to hasten.

“Tiktoker”
Definition: Person who publishes their own videos on the TikTok application.
The TikTok platform has existed since 2016 and has more than a billion users. Often, when a brand has a significant impact on society, its name is found, in one form or another, in the dictionary. For example, the verb “googler”, which means “to do a search on Google”, appeared in Little Robert in 2018.
“Climaticide”
Definition: Which, by its massive CO emissions2contributes to global warming.
The end of the word, “cide,” means “to kill” or “to destroy.” We are therefore talking about someone who produces a lot of CO2 (carbon dioxide, a greenhouse gas) and which… destroys the environment. Ecology is a cause that is very, very present in our daily lives and in our vocabulary!
“Overtourism”
Definition: tourist presence perceived as excessive and harmful.
The beginning of the word, “on,” indicates excess. “Overtourism” therefore means “too many tourists”. The excessive presence of travelers can damage magnificent and historic places, such as Venice (Italy), Dubrovnik (Croatia) and even the Magdalen Islands, in Quebec.
“Neuroatypical”
Definition: Whose neurological functioning differs from the norm.
“Neuro” refers to nerves or anything related to neurons. The brain is made up of billions of neurons. “Atypical” means “unusual”. This word is commonly used to talk about people with autism or those living with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
