Dominique Boutonnat will explain himself in court. The president of the National Cinema Center (CNC), the organization which supervises the French seventh art, will be judged on June 14, 2024, the Nanterre prosecutor’s office announced to AFP on Wednesday March 6, confirming information from the L’informé site. Accused of sexual assault and attempted rape by his godson, he was indicted on February 11, 2021 for sexual assault and attempted rape by the Nanterre public prosecutor’s office. Facts contested by Dominique Boutonnat.

The issue came back to the forefront during Judith Godrèche’s hearing in the Senate on Thursday February 29. Deven the leading figure in the fight against sexual violence in cinema, the actress had targeted the president of the CNC and asked for his “withdrawal”.

She also said she had discussed the subject with the Minister of Culture, Rachida Dati. “She spoke to me about the presumption of innocence. I replied that that was not the question, that it was a question of symbol”the CNC being in charge of the fight against sexual violence in cinema.
