According to information from “Special Envoy”, the meat specialist Bigard and the Malo dairy are among the groups suspected of not respecting the Egalim laws.
Industrialists who do not respect the Egalim laws, which aim to protect farmers’ income, are in the government’s sights. “Sometimes some [industriels] are extremely hard”reacted Thursday, February 1, the boss of Système U questioned by “Special Envoy”. SAccording to information from the show, the meat specialist Bigard and the Malo dairy are among the groups incriminated. “With the first, we have always had, over time, relatively difficult relationships”confides Dominique Schelcher.
Will the Système U group give up selling products from manufacturers who do not respect Egalim laws? “We are in the process of making a decision.” says the general director of mass distribution brands. “Last year, we delisted one of these very big brands, Pepsi [en raison de la hausse des prix demandée par l’industriel]but it was like it didn’t bother them at all”, admits Dominique Schelcher, however.
“Yesterday I launched four pre-injunctions to the four industrial groups which do not respect the provisions of the Egalim law”declared the Minister of the Economy on Wednesday, without naming them. “I am there to control, to impose sanctions if the controls show that there has indeed been an infraction”added Bruno Le Maire, recalling that“in the event of proven non-compliance with the Egalim law”businesses “will be heavily sanctioned, up to 2% of turnover”.
