Dozens of Isère firefighters were mobilized for a good part of the night from Wednesday to Thursday in the Vouillants forest, on the heights of Fontaine, going towards the Vercors. The emergency services began to intervene a little before 2 a.m. and the fire has been extinguished this Thursday morning, after burning a hectare of vegetation.

A very difficult place to get to

The GRIMP (Reconnaissance and intervention group in dangerous environments) also intervened because the fire broke out in a very difficult to access area, at the edge of the cliffs. A very impressive fire, seen by many residents.

The wood closed to the public

Following this fire, the metropolis of Grenoble decided to close the Bois des Vouillants to the public, at least this Thursday, August 04, before being sure that there is no risk of repeats.
