The Frenchman belonged to the crew of a sailboat moored in the port of Nazaré, around 130 kilometers north of the Portuguese capital, Lisbon. Firefighters and maritime police brought the body to the surface following an alert at 07:45 (local time), the national maritime authority said in a statement.
The death of this Frenchman, whose origin has not yet been specified, was declared on the spot and the body was transported to the Forensic Institute of Leiria.
