The body of a Canadian has been found in the rubble of the earthquake in Turkey

The body of a Canadian visiting Turkey was discovered in the rubble of a building that collapsed on February 6 in the devastating earthquake that left thousands dead.

Saad Zora says his twin sister, Samar, was found by rescue workers on Tuesday as an excavator was digging into the pieces of a five-storey building in the city of Antakya.

They told him that his sister had been found, but had not survived.

Mr Zora says he and his brother, Muthana, who flew to Turkey last week to search for their sister, had remained near the scene of the building’s excavation.

He says he is grateful to local people and search and rescue teams who helped find the 33-year-old woman.

Samar Zora had traveled to the city for her doctoral research in anthropology.
