The body of a 51-year-old man found in southwest Montreal

The lifeless body of a 50-year-old was found in a residential building in the Notre-Dame-de-Grâce district, in southwestern Montreal, early Monday morning.

Shortly after, the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) declared that it was a suspicious death, traces of violence having been noted on the body.

Police were notified by a call made shortly after midnight to the 911 telephone exchange to assist a man in the multi-apartment building located near the intersection of Montclair and Fielding avenues.

Upon arrival, police found the 51-year-old man unresponsive. His death was pronounced shortly afterwards; a security perimeter was erected to allow investigators to comb the scene.

At the end of the night, the SPVM remained unable to establish a hypothesis to explain what had led to the death of the individual. She did not know if he was known to police circles.

No arrests had been made.

The sector is mainly residential, but there are also some commercial establishments.
