This is the first decisive moment for the Blues, during this Euro 2022 handball, with this match against Serbia, Monday January 17. Victorious over Croatia (27-22) then Ukraine (36-23), they are however the only ones not to have yet experienced the slightest setback in this group C. But qualification for the main round is not yet not yet acquired.
Because if Guillaume Gille’s men were to lose by more than seven goals against the Serbs, and the Croats won against the Ukrainians, France would be eliminated from the competition in favor of Croatia and Serbia (due to the special goal-average rule between three teams that would each have two wins). Still, the level displayed by the Olympic champions gives them enough arguments to consider a clear round, and thus reach the main round with full points.
