In the fateful engagement, Orelvis Martinez started the ball rolling with a double that allowed Nathan Lukes and Gosuke Katoh to step on home plate. Canada’s only Major League Baseball team took the lead for good.

Also in the seventh, singles by Alejandro Kirk and Reese McGuire, as well as a bad pitch by Reggie McClain, allowed the other points for the Jays.

All of the other winners’ runs came from home runs. Josh Palacios, Cavan Biggio and Greg Bird were the authors. The long ball of the last of this list also made the difference, since the Yankees returned to the score thereafter.

For the Bronx Bombers, Giancarlo Stanton, Joey Gallo, Rob Brantly and Miguel Andujar expelled the ball out of bounds.

On the mound, Toronto starter Alek Manoah had a good outing. In three and a third innings of work, he gave up two hits and as many walks. He also passed three opponents in the mitt.

The Blue Jays will continue their spring training with a game against the Philadelphia Phillies on Sunday.
