A difficult introduction. The Bleues du XV de France were corrected by Canada (46-24) for their first match of the “Women XV” tournament, which brings together six of the best teams in the world, on the night of Sunday September 29 to Monday September 30, in Vancouver .
Less than a year before the Women’s Rugby World Cup in England (August 22-September 27, 2025), the Blues were overtaken by Canada, who remained on a historic success in May against the Black Ferns, world champions in New Zealand.
France, once again second in the Six Nations Tournament behind England in April, conceded four tries in the first period (24-14), before conceding another three in the second. The four tries scored by Mélissande Llorens, Marine Ménager (who celebrated her 50th selection in the blue jersey), Pauline Bourdon and Nassira Konde were not enough to reverse the trend, and the players of Gaëlle Mignot and David Ortiz suffered their fourth defeat in their last five games against the Canadians.
The French now have an appointment with the United States, Saturday October 5, for their next match. They will then finish their competition against New Zealand, whom they beat for their entry into the first edition of the tournament a year ago, on October 12. The Black Ferns were dominated by Ireland (29-27) in what represented the big result of this first series of matches.
