Twitter launched its new logo on Monday July 24, abandoning the blue bird on its website where it is now replaced by a white capital X on a black background. Elon Musk, the owner of the social network, said on Saturday that he was considering a name and logo change for his social network. “We will soon say ‘goodbye’ to the Twitter brand and, gradually, to all the birds”, he had written.
The businessman, who paid $44 billion to acquire Twitter, had previously changed his profile picture to the new logo, describing it as “art Deco”. He also changed the link in his bio to X.com, which now redirects to Twitter.com.
X is a mathematical symbol that the boss of Tesla, SpaceX, Twitter and Neuralink is particularly fond of. X.com was until now the website of the online bank he had founded before it became the online payment service PayPal. Twitter should also quickly become a payment, banking and e-commerce service.
