The Bloc wants Quebec to have “all the powers”

(Ottawa) The Bloc Québécois intends to change its tone in Ottawa and get closer to its identity as a sovereignist party. After adopting the theme “More for Quebec”, he revealed on Wednesday that he will replace it with “Everything for Quebec”.

“Because appetite comes with eating, now we want everything for Quebec,” said Bloc leader Yves-François Blanchet during a press conference during the party’s national caucus in Quebec.

The theme was chosen because it is “deeply representative” of the political formation and therefore of the alliance that will allow the Trudeau government to govern for several years thanks to the support of the New Democratic Party (NDP).

“There are battles,” said Mr. Blanchet. And there is one that is the natural outcome of who we are and that is the theme of the day today: it is “All the powers”. A nation has the right to assert, appropriate and exercise all powers, all attributes of sovereignty. »

The Bloc Québécois, which has the “ultimate objective” of Quebec gaining independence, intends to be “intransigent” in its battles on nationalist issues: the defense of Quebec’s political weight, the secularism of the state and the French language.

As Mr. Blanchet often likes to say, the Bloc will continue to vote “in favor of what is good for Quebec […]against what is bad for Quebec”.
