The bizarre beauty — Integrale, Christophe

He doesn’t have so many albums, Daniel Bevilacqua, and his career as a singer named Christophe is uneven to say the least. There are big holes, including a real sinkhole that took 13 years to climb. But where big hits are enough for almost everyone (Aline, The puppets, The blue words and The Lost Paradisesthat’s about it), lovers of the most anguished of yéyés, of the unfortunate chronicle with a glassy voice, want all the traces he left of his passage on earth, and they are served here: the versions Italian, the duets, his successive inventories at the Olympia, the soundtrack of the film On the road to Salina (1970), rarities from before Aline until a cover of Béart, on a tribute album of which he is necessarily the ghost, since he disappeared just before. The COVID-19 found in him a prey of choice, an announced suffocation. We can consider ourselves lucky that he did not die in 1965: this integral is that of a life on borrowed time.
