The timetable for the purchasing power bill is getting tighter. The text will be presented to the Council of Ministers “June 29” then submitted to Parliament “in stride”said government spokeswoman Olivia Grégoire in an interview with the Parisian (paid article) published Monday, May 30.

In detail, the purchasing power “will be the subject of a communication to the Council of Ministers before the legislative elections”June 12 and 19, “to present the great measures”she said. “Then a bill and an amending finance bill will be detailed in the Council of Ministers on June 29 for a presentation to the Assembly in stride”, she added.

The spokesperson had put forward the idea, on May 25, of a “first bill (…) adopted by the Council of Ministers before the legislative elections”. But the government then backpedaled. Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne explained on Friday that the first texts that the deputies will have to examine would be intended to “continue to contain this spike in energy prices” with, in particular, the extension of “tariff shield” on gas and electricity prices.
