The debates around the proposed law aimed at strengthening repression against racist and anti-Semitic attacks quickly turned into political score-settling, Wednesday March 6, in the National Assembly. The text was finally adopted without the votes of the RN and LFI.

On Wednesday March 6, deputies examined in the National Assembly a bill strengthening repression against anti-Semitic and racist attacks. This text will allow a court to issue an arrest or committal warrant for immediate execution of the sentence. It also plans to establish an offense of condoning or contesting crimes against humanity.

Éric Dupond-Moretti accused of making a quenelle

In the hemicycle, however, the debates quickly turned to political score-settling. The National Rally deputy, Julien Odoul, accused the Minister of Justice, Eric Dupond-Moretti, of having made a quenelle, a gesture with anti-Semitic connotations, in a deserted but noisy Assembly. The bill was finally adopted without the votes of the National Rally and La France insoumise.
