The biggest picnic of the year will be organized on Sunday May 26 on the most beautiful avenue in the world in Paris, revealed Wednesday April 24 France Bleu Paris. It is an initiative of the Champs-Élysées committee. This free event will bring together nearly 4,000 people for a walking Sunday. It will be “a historic picnic, on an iconic avenue for a unique moment”rejoices the Champs-Elysées committee.

To receive the many guests, there will be “a huge red and white checked tablecloth measuring 216m in length, made in France from a fabric made from 100% recycled fibers”. This sheet will cover the roadway from rue Arsène Houssaye to avenue George V. This sheet will measure 4,536m2 for a surface area “historic and unprecedented if we refer to the official Guinness record”specifies the Champs-Elysées committee. Each tile of this extraordinary gingham tablecloth (9m2 each) “will become a space reserved for a group of lucky people who can accommodate up to 6 people”.

A draw to select participants

There will be “a series of activities and games around 9 ephemeral kitchens”, during this picnic. All the elements of the picnic “will be made available: baskets, food, comfortable cushions, fun activities… The meal baskets, free for all participants, will be prepared on site with the support of the restaurateurs” from the avenue des Champs-Elysées. Two services are planned (11:45 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.). The selection of participants will be made by drawing lots during the month of May. You will therefore need to register on a dedicated platform. This giant picnic is organized thanks to the partnership with LG Electronics.
