The Biarritz Nouvelles Vagues international film festival highlights youth

This is the second edition of this international festival which runs until Sunday June 23. Eight films in competition and as many youth stories, from India, Ireland, Egypt, Belgium, France, the United Kingdom and the United States.

The second edition of the Nouvelles Vagues film festival runs until June 23 in Biarritz.  (France 3 Aquitaine / C. Etchegaray)

It is one of the latest film festivals in France. The Biarritz film festival Nouvelles Vagues is back until Sunday June 23 for its second edition. Its particularity: it presents films from all over the world which highlight youth, their stories, their hopes and their power.

Eight French and international films in competition this year (all previously unreleased in theaters in France), and eight jurors (under 35 years old) to decide between them.

In parallel with the official competition, Nouvelles Vagues also offers more than thirty films, including a selection chosen by six guests of honor who each offer their film which according to them best evokes this youth. Among them, Alice Diop, Alain Chabat, James Franco but also Matt Dillon.

Finally, Nouvelles Vagues also includes meetings and exclusive previews in the presence of directors and actors. This year the public will be able to discover Jim’s Novel of the Larrieu brothers, Rough diamond by Agathe Riedinger, the count of Monte Cristo by Matthieu Delaporte and Alexandre de la Patellière, and Tatami by Zar Amir (Interpretation Prize at Cannes in 2022) and Guy Nattiv.
