After an overdose of Easter chocolate, the return to reality is felt on the shelves.
In fact, after a super generous Easter week in terms of discounts, we are seeing a return to normal this week. Despite everything, we still have a very nice variety of discounts in most categories and the best prices for over a year on several products.

In the fight of the flyers, I give victory to Super C, which has a fairly comfortable lead. The banner stands out for its wide variety of generous discounts. The first pages are adorned with the words “Our best prices of the year”, and these are often the best prices, all banners combined.
On the shelves, let’s start with a remarkable price at Maxi: blueberries at $1.88 (170 g). Metro follows closely, at $1.95. Interestingly, the circular specifies that blueberries can come from Morocco. It’s rather rare, usually, they mainly come to us from Mexico at this time of the year.
Fruits and vegetables
Still in fruits and vegetables, I am choosing the Attitude lettuce mixes (142 g) at $1.88 at IGA. Normally, they sell for $4.99. We are therefore talking about a discount of more than 60%! We saw the same offer in February at IGA, but under $3 for this format, it’s rare, regardless of the retailer.
Another interesting price: that of yellow, orange or red peppers, at 0.94%/lb at Walmart. This is the best price since August 2023, but the second best price since August 2021. This gives us a particular point of view on these products which rarely sell under $1/lb.
In another category, Cavendish fries (800 g package) stand out, at $2, until the end of April, a discount which is offered at Maxi and Provigo. Please note: the regular price of this product varies enormously, between $3 and $6 depending on the merchant.
I would like to take this opportunity to point out that these two banners have been offering discounts for the entire month for two months. In such a context, the consumer is under less pressure to buy quickly.
Meats
In the meat aisle, ground veal at $3.44/lb at IGA is attractive. The last time we saw such a price was in December 2022. Otherwise, to benefit from such a bargain, you have to go back even further into the past. Since the start of the year, I have noticed that this is the fourth time we have seen this product below $4/lb. Such a discount, on a monthly basis, is rather rare.
Still in meats, lean ground pork sells for $2.24/lb at Super C. However, normally, the leaner the ground meat, the more expensive it is. For lean meat, this is still the best price since December.
In closing, I would like to point out that there has been less talk of inflation in the media in recent weeks. But the price of the food basket remains high. The alert consumer, who monitors the circulars, can still circumvent this reality. Even if it means taking advantage of discounts to stock up on supplies.
