The Berlinale unveils its first films

The Berlin Film Festival (Berlinale) on Wednesday morning unveiled the titles of the first films in different categories of its 72e edition which will take place from February 10 to 20. Among other things, we will see the feature film About Joan by Laurent Larivière with Isabelle Huppert.

In this film, Isabelle Huppert will play Joan Verra, a woman who, finding her first love who has disappeared for many years, refuses to tell her that they had a son together. This film will be presented in the Berlinale Special Gala section.

Danish actor Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Game Of Thrones) will also be featured in Against The Ice, an Iceland-Denmark-United States co-production in which he plays an explorer who, at the beginning of the 20e century, made a trip to Greenland to defend Danish sovereignty there.

The Forger, a film by Maggie Peren, will star young actor Louis Hofmann as a Berlin Jew who, in the midst of World War II, fabricates false documents to save the lives of people around him.

The films announced on Wednesday can be found in the Speciale, Panorama, Forum and Generation 2022 sections. For the moment, we cannot find any Quebec titles but others have yet to come.

Recall that the director M. Night Shyamalan (The Sixth Sense) will be the president of the jury of the official competition.
