In France, more than four million people suffer from asthma. On the occasion of the world day dedicated to it, France Televisions met a woman with this respiratory disease, who is cured, in part, through sport.

Élise Massé discovered that she had asthma in November 2021. Her doctor follows her regularly, and advises her to exercise. She exercises every day, cycling to work. “The doctor advises to do sports to work the lungs, and to maintain the muscles of the lungs”, she explains.

At the Parisian Bichat hospital (AP-HP), his doctor and pulmonologist, Dr. Clairelyne Dupin, had him perform regular examinations. In particular, it passes breath tests. Sport, long contraindicated for asthmatics, is therefore now recommended. “If the situation is under control. An asthm[atique] who’s not well, who has symptoms, who wakes up at night, who needs a lot of Ventolin, it’s not the time to run the marathon”, nuance it Dr. Clairelyne Dupin. Patient associations demand that Health Insurance reimburse sports practice.
