Football in the background. While Belgium and Sweden faced each other in the qualifiers for Euro 2024, Monday October 16, the meeting was suspended at half-time. This decision, announced by the announcer at the King Baudouin stadium more than twenty minutes after the players were sent to the locker room, comes as a shooting broke out earlier in the evening in the streets of Brussels, leaving two victims.

Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo described the attack as “cowardly attack”, before specifying that the victims were of Swedish nationality. Supporters are not allowed to leave the stadium at this time.
