More and more French people are attaching great importance to the choice of their bedding, whether new or reconditioned mattresses.
An investment to sleep better. Anne-Sophie Jabert has just bought a brand new mattress, with box spring. She hadn’t changed them for five years and wanted a larger, more comfortable bed, total cost: 1,500 euros. “We are aware that sleep is very important, for health, for alertness at work”she explains.
Sleeping well can be expensive. In a store, mattresses cost 800, 1,500, and even up to 6,300 euros. A couple came to inquire. They are considering a mattress for 2,000 euros, above their budget, but it suits them.
The choice of reconditioned
To lower the bill, some opt for a reconditioned mattress, which is generally less expensive. In the Ecomatelas company, the first price for a two-seater is 130 euros. Their sales increased by 50 euros in 2023. “There have been a lot of changes in bedding post-Covid and ultimately, we realize that it has been a fairly stagnant market since then”, explains the manager. According to a study, 3.5 million households plan to buy new bedding in 2024.
