Watching the Trump-Harris debate, I remembered this sentence written about this tale: “The role of the monster allows the hero or heroine to master his fear and exercise his own strength.” How beautiful she was, Kamala, last night, exercising her strength in front of the miserable Donald Trump lost in his hatred and his lies! She was there, calm, solid, well prepared. She was there, not having of course all the complete answers to all the questions, but demonstrating her capacity to cope, to serve her country, to protect the excluded, the most vulnerable, to endure the crude insults of an ill-prepared Trump. It was as if she was telling the Americans that she would be there for them and that her benevolence and her expertise would form the foundation of her commitments. Watching Trump, I wondered who would want to have such a character to lead the greatest democracy in the world, because there is no chance that the Beast will transform into a sensitive and competent human.
